Current Project - Dining Table with Leaves

My current project is a quarter sawn white oak dining table. The 80” table has two leaves that expand it to 116”, plenty of space for dinner guests.

Top and Leaves

The function of the tools I use and how they work are explained here. Specific tools used are noted in bold.

The table and the two leaves are made from five consecutive boards from one log. The boards are glued in pairs until the full top is realized. After gluing the boards are run through the widebelt sander. After an hour of multiple passes at different sanding grits, the finish top results. After sanding, the top and leaves are cut to length on the sliding table saw.
