About The Project
This 90” X 52” multifunction gaming table easily seats eight. Its features support the playing of card, computer, role-playing (RPG) and board games:
A key customer requirement was that the center of the table be adjustable in height, and that the adjustment mechanism be simple and robust. Specially no electronic lift mechanisms. The lift mechanism used is attaching the table center to the frame by four lead screws. The screws have sprockets that are connected by a chain. Turning the crank that is attached to one of the screws causes all four screws to turn and raise and lower the table center 2” above or below the surface of the outer rail. This allows for a sunken, level, or raised center playing surface. There are no set distances; the height can be adjusted infinitely.
To protect pant legs from the ends of the lead screws, they’re covered by foam dice. An innovation and novel solution from my wife.
The table center is veneered in walnut for use with board, computer, RPG games and as a general table.
A padded poker felt top can be placed on the center for card games. This top provides proper card glide and chip bounce.
Concealed 110V/USB-A/USB-C outlets are built into the underside of the table rim, thus giving each player power for their devices.
Eight matching sets of dice trays and drink coasters were also made. These are stored on a rack under the table.
The table functions wonderfully as a gaming table. Additionally the beauty of the walnut and crisp design and construction make for a fine piece of furniture.
