Living Room Display Shelves and Cabinets

The customer commissioned these cabinets for her classic 1930’s home. The goals were to provide display space for artwork, gain general storage, and add light and visual interest to one end of the living room. 

The customer gets credit for the majority of the design. She knew exactly what she wanted, and she created a good initial sketch. After converting her sketch to scale drawings, I tweaked the heights of the upper display shelves and lower cabinets to be visually balanced. The cabinets are painted to match the room trim. The natural walnut cabinet top is complemented by the white paint, and adds a note of refinement to the piece. The display shelves are illuminated via dimmable LED lights that are built into the back of the vertical dividers. Each bottom cabinet unit feature an internal drawer.
