The Van

This project is the conversion of a brand new Mercedes Benz Sprinter van into a camper. The owners, David and Ann Lowrey, have done all the electrical, insulation and mechanical work. I’m working with David on the wood interior, which is comprised of the ceiling and wall panels and cabinets.

The realities of this being a traveling van require extra sturdy, yet lightweight construction. The design style is Scandinavian Modern. The van interior is made of baltic birch plywood veneered with quarter sliced ash veneer. The tight, straight quarter sliced grain stays true to the Scandinavian Modern theme. All of the veneer is from the same tree, which will result in matching grain and color.
