Final Assembly
The first assembly step is to glue the dowel joints from downward arches to the main arch. The downward arch splines are then glued into the mating slots on the bottom of the table. Masking tape is temporarily applied to catch any glue squeeze out. Wedges and shims are used to ensure the top is spaced and aligned properly while the glue dries. The base is then attached to the main arch with two large screws. Two small wedges are attached perpendicular to the base on either side of the screws. These are adjusted in and out to control the pitch of the arch. They are adjusted until each tip of the arch is equal distance from the floor, thus ensuring the top is level.
